PM Hun Sen Returns After Attending 4th Mekong River Commission Summit

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen returned home to Cambodia on Wednesday, 5 April 2023, after attending the 4th Mekong River Commission Summit in Vientiane, Laos.

On Tuesday evening, 4 April, Prime Minister Hun Sen attended a banquet hosted by the Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR), Sonexay Siphandone.

Addressing the dinner, the Laotian Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government and people of Laos, extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Hun Sen, other Government heads and leaders of Mekong countries, as well as all development partners of the Mekong River Commission.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone said that the summit is very valuable for reviewing the progress made by the Mekong River Commission, since the last summit in 2018, towards achieving the sustainable development goals in the Mekong Basin through joint-efforts made with all partner organizations.

At the Summit, the Mekong River Commission discussed the current challenges in the Mekong Basin and setting the future strategic direction to more effectively address these challenges in order to further promote regional cooperation and partnerships for Mekong sustainability.
